The 10 Year Hoodie
It might be a truism to say we live in a disposable, throwaway society but it bears scrutiny nonetheless - few products marketed to consumers are seemingly made to last; ‘planned obsolescence’ is the term used. Of course there are brands that promote the quality of their products, but how many are actually prepared to guarantee it?.
So it's refreshing to see a company purposefully set out to create something with integrity; a product that is specifically designed to last… and back it up with a decade long warranty. A doff of the cap then, to US company Flint & Tinder and their (virtually) bulletproof 10 Year Hoodie.
Launched on Kickstarter back in March, the project raised an astonishing $1 million during its 45 day campaign.
This super premium, American-made zip-up unisex sweatshirt features reinforced stress seams for durability, heavyweight ribbing with Lycra, oversized pockets, a custom zipper pull, and a three-piece hood. It even comes with a sew-on ‘Indestructible’ patch.
And here’s the rub: should the garment rip, tear, or otherwise comes apart at the seams at any point within a 10 year period (after purchase), the company will repair it / patch it up for free.
The first batch of hoodies ship this month. We’ll update the blog once we receive ours…
