The Carry-On Cocktail Kit
Here's your chance to join the 'Old Fashioned' Mile High Club... as in the classic whisky based cocktail, rather than anything to do with a willing partner and a cubicle.
Just launched, the Carry-On* Cocktail Kit is a collaboration between Brooklyn design house W&P and cocktail publication, Punch and contains almost everything you need to knock up a
Trolley Dolly Don Draper special at > 5280 ft.
The 'cocktail' is reputed to have been invented around 1806 and was originally a 'hair of the dog' libation. The first use of the name 'Old Fashioned' has been attributed to a bartender at the Pendennis Gentleman's Club in the 1880s, who made it in honor of Colonel James E. Pepper, a prominent bourbon distiller. The drink traditionally contains Angosturra Bitters, sugar syrup, ice and - of course - some quality bourbon or rye whisky.
The kit has a recipe card, spoon/muddler, aromatic bitters, unrefined Demerara cane sugar and linen coaster, all packed into a natty little travel tin. All you need to do to seal the deal, is secure a generous glug of booze from a co-operative flight attendant... and it's Bottoms Up!
*(Sid James not included)
If you fancy trying one, here's what you'll need:
2 oz bourbon or rye whisky
3 dashes of Angostura bitters
1 cube of sugar
1 orange slice/orange peel (optional)
